You may have bought some Ethereum, and are looking to send it via the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20) to your Metamask wallet.

Here’s a guide to show you the steps on what to do next.

Can I send ETH to my Metamask wallet using the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20)?

You are able to send ETH to your Metamask wallet using the Binance Smart Chain. To do so, you will need to add the Binance Smart Chain to your Metamask wallet, and then withdraw ETH from a platform that supports BEP20 withdrawals for ETH.

How to send ETH using BEP20 to your Metamask wallet

Here are 5 steps to send ETH via the Binance Smart Chain to your Metamask wallet:

  1. Select a platform that enables BEP20 withdrawals of ETH
  2. Select ‘Binance Smart Chain’ on your Metamask wallet
  3. Copy the Binance Smart Chain wallet address from your Metamask wallet
  4. Withdraw ETH from the platform of your choice using the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20)
  5. Receive ETH in your Metamask wallet

This is each step explained further:

Select a platform that enables BEP20 withdrawals of ETH

The first step you’ll need to do is to select a platform that allows BEP20 withdrawals of ETH.

This is because the main network that most platforms support for ETH is ERC20, and not BEP20.

Here are 5 exchanges for your consideration:

PlatformETH Withdrawal
Fee
Binance0.000076 ETH
FTX0 ETH
Crypto.com0.0005 ETH
Gate.io0.0027 ETH
AAX0.000058 ETH

In terms of ETH BEP20 withdrawals, it seems that FTX has the lowest fees when you want to make a withdrawal.

Nevertheless, using the Binance Smart Chain instead of the ERC20 network will greatly reduce your fees when sending ETH to Metamask.

Select ‘Binance Smart Chain’ on your Metamask wallet

The first thing you’ll need to do is to ensure that you’ve selected the Binance Smart Chain on Metamask.

Metamask Select Binance Smart Chain

If you have not set up the Binance Smart Chain on your Metamask wallet, you can check out this step-by-step guide here.

Copy the Binance Smart Chain wallet address from your Metamask wallet

Once you have added the Binance Smart Chain to your wallet, you will need to copy the deposit address from your Metamask wallet.

Metamask Copy Binance Smart Chain Address

You may notice that your Smart Chain deposit address is exactly the same as your Ethereum Mainnet address. However, you will still need to add the Binance Smart Chain to your Metamask wallet so that you view the ETH that you’ve sent over.

If you are finding it hard to remember all of these long deposit addresses, you may want to consider simplifying them using Unstoppable Domains.

This allows you to send crypto to a .crypto or .wallet address, which makes it much easier to transfer cryptocurrencies between platforms!

Withdraw ETH from the platform of your choice using the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20)

The next step will be to withdraw ETH from the platform of your choice to your Metamask wallet using the Binance Smart Chain.

Since the deposit address is the same for both ERC20 and BEP20 withdrawals, you will need to select the correct network when you are withdrawing ETH.

For example, I may want to withdraw ETH from Binance.

When I paste the deposit address from my Metamask wallet, I will need to ensure that I am selecting the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20) network.

The same applies to Crypto.com,

Crypto.com Withdraw ETH BSC BEP20

as well as AAX.

AAX Withdraw ETH BEP20

If you want to receive ETH in the Binance Smart Chain, you will need to select the BEP20 network. Otherwise, your ETH may be sent to another network, such as ERC20 or MATIC.

Receive ETH in your Metamask wallet

After the transfer has been initiated, you will receive ETH in your Metamask Wallet under the Binance Smart Chain.

The time taken to send ETH over will heavily depend on the congestion of the Binance Smart Chain.

To view ETH on the Binance Smart Chain, you will need to manually import the token which you can view my guide here for more information.

Conclusion

By having ETH on the Binance Smart Chain, you will be using the Binance-Peg Ethereum, instead of native Ethereum.

This is because Metamask supports both networks, but they will segregate the balances that you have for these 2 versions.

This allows you to use ETH on DeFi protocols, such as Pancakeswap.

However, don’t forget to select BEP20 as the network when you are sending ETH from the platform you’ve chosen to your Metamask wallet!
