Add Hector DAO To Metamask

Last updated on January 14th, 2022

If you’re looking to stake HEC on the Hector DAO platform, you may want to add this token to your Metamask wallet to track the amount of HEC that you have.

However, you will need to import HEC as a custom token on the Fantom network.

Here’s what you need to know.

How to add Hector DAO to Metamask

Here are 4 steps to add HEC to Metamask on the Fantom Network:

  1. Go to Metamask and ensure that you are using the Fantom Network
  2. Select ‘Import Tokens’, and then ‘Import Custom Token’
  3. Copy the Fantom contract from CoinMarketCap
  4. Double check that HEC is detected and select ‘Add Custom Token’

And here is each step explained:

Go to Metamask and ensure that you are using the Fantom Network

The first thing you’ll need to do is to ensure that you are using the Fantom Network on Metamask.

Metamask Fantom Network Add

If you have not set up the Fantom Network on your Metamask wallet, you can check out this step-by-step guide here.

Select ‘Import Tokens’, and then ‘Import Custom Token’

Once you’re on the Fantom Network, the next step will be to select ‘Import Tokens‘.

Metamask Fantom Import Tokens

On the Fantom network, you are only able to import custom tokens.

Copy the Fantom contract from CoinMarketCap

For the next part, you can go to the HEC page on CoinMarketCap.

There is a section called ‘Contracts‘, where you’ll see the Fantom contract for HEC.

HEC CoinMarketCap Contract

You can click on the contract and it will be copied to your clipboard.

Double check that HEC is detected and select ‘Add Custom Token’

Once you’ve copied the Contract Address, you can paste it in the ‘Token Contract Address‘ field in Metamask.

Metamask HEC Autofill

If you pasted the correct contract address, HEC should automatically appear as the Token Symbol.

After selecting ‘Add Custom Token‘, you will need to confirm importing HEC one more time.

Metamask HEC Confirm

Once you’ve successfully imported HEC to your Metamask wallet, you should see it as one of your assets under the Fantom Network.

Metamask HEC Added

This process is similar to how you would add SPA to your Metamask wallet.

Conclusion

HEC is a native token of the Fantom network, hence you can deposit HEC to your Metamask wallet via this network.

However, you can’t import HEC directly using Metamask’s import token feature.

Instead, you will need to copy the HEC contract address from a trusted source like CoinMarketCap, and then paste it under the ‘Import Custom Token’ field on Metamask.
