If you have some stETH, and you’re looking to get ETH, you can trade stETH to ETH on both centralised and decentralised exchange platforms.
Here are some platforms that support both stETH and ETH, and you can actually convert between these 2 cryptocurrencies!
Here’s what you need to know.
How to convert stETH to ETH
Here are 4 ways to convert stETH to ETH:
- Gate.io
- 1inch
- Uniswap
- Curve Finance
and here is each method explained in-depth:
Gate.io
Here’s are the steps to trade stETH to ETH on Gate.io:
- Deposit stETH into Gate.io
- Select the stETH/ETH trading pair
- Select the type of order you wish to make
- Select the quantity of ETH you wish to buy
And here, each step is explained in-depth:
Deposit stETH into Gate.io
Gate.io does not allow you to use SGD to buy cryptocurrencies on their platform. As such, you will need to deposit stETH from another exchange to Gate.io.
This is because Gate.io only offers a stETH trading pair with ETH.
To do so, you will need to go to your ‘Wallet‘ tab,
and select ‘Deposit‘.
You will need to select stETH as the cryptocurrency you wish to deposit, which will bring you to this page.
You may want to note that you can only deposit stETH to Gate.io via the ERC20 network.
Here are some things you’ll need to take note of:
- You are sending via the correct network (ERC20)
- The deposit address is accurately copied letter by letter
If you make any mistake during this process, your crypto will be lost forever!
Select the ETH/stETH trading pair
Once you have deposited your stETH into Gate.io, you will need to select the ETH/stETH trading pair. This can be done by going to the ‘Trade‘ tab,
and then search for the ETH trading pairs.
Select the type of order you wish to make
After you’ve selected your trading pair, you would need to select the order type that you wish to make:
- Limit
- Time Condition
- Conditional Order
Limit orders allow you to determine the price you wish to buy or sell your crypto. It is interesting to note that Gate.io does not offer any market orders.
Select the quantity of ETH you wish to buy
After you’ve selected your order, you’ll need to select the amount of ETH you wish to buy.
From the rate in the screenshot above, you can see that the exchange rate between stETH and ETH is not 1:1. As such, you may receive less ETH than the stETH you’ve traded!
Verdict
Gate.io charges you up to 0.2% in fees for buying ETH.
If you intend to withdraw your ETH, the fees can be rather high, especially if you’re using the ERC20 network:
Network | Withdrawal Fee |
---|---|
ERC20 | 0.01 ETH |
BEP20 | 0.0024 ETH |
Heco | 0.004 ETH |
Arbitrum | 0.026 ETH |
Optimism | 0.002 ETH |
You may notice that the cheapest way via which you can withdraw your ETH is via the Optimism network.
